Who should be tested for Covid?

Testing at this time is focused on people with Covid-like symptoms such as those with fever, cough, or shortness of breath. Residents in long-term care settings and staff working in these settings are generally prioritized for testing. Testing is provided at the physician’s discretion and at this time a physician order is required for testing. Nurses in our communities, and in some cases trained and delegated staff, may perform Covid-19 specimen collection for testing in-house. We will utilize our local Public Health Authorities/ Department of Health to secure testing; however, if access is prohibitive, we may use our in-house capacity to perform a Covid-19 test.
